IMO's Facilitation Committee has adopted amendments to the Facilitation (FAL) Convention which will make the single window for data exchange mandatory in ports around the world, marking a significant step in the acceleration of digitalization in shipping. The amendments are expected to enter into force on 1 January 2024.

The webinar aimed at highlighting the benefits and opportunities for maritime trade arising from the application of the maritime single window (MSW) to electronic ship clearance processes in ports which will become mandatory for Contracting Governments to the FAL Convention on 1 January 2024.
Participants also heard how collaboration between Governments,
ports and shipping is key for the digitalization of the ship-port interface to
ensure the exchange of standardized and
harmonized information.
